The Tao Te Ching, one of the primary texts of philosophical and religious Taoism, affirms that the human incarnation entails the 10,000 joys and 10,000 sorrows. So, we have probably been given this extraordinary privilege of life to embrace them and to count them all.

Kali Gibran in the Prophet says, “When you are joyous, look deep into your heart and you shall find it is only that which has given you sorrow that is giving you joy. When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”

I therefore must think that all the wonders that come with life bring along troubles and sorrows. It is included in the gift of life as “one package includes all”.

Jack Kornfield in his book “A Path With Heart” says, “This life is a test… it is only a test …If it had been an actual life, you would have received further instructions on where to go and what to do. Remember, this life is only a test.”

I leave you with these few personal thoughts… would like to hear from you all.

Much love,

  1. Strange thinking of life as a rest but, indeed, it must be…….. we often do feel as if we fail or we succeed at life. Sometimes, the sorrows we deal with are all engulfing and it is nearly impossible to find the light, the joy. So, achieving balance seems to be one of our biggest challeges, that will bring peace. A lifelong work in progress….
